ENGcom

About

Built because search had become advertising

The engineers who started ENGcom could not reliably find a supplier with the right experience, close by, without wading through paid results. The idea dates from 1993. The site went up in 2008, aimed at Australia and New Zealand.

Directory search is limited to engineering suppliers, service providers, contractors and consultants. Industry, field and postcode are first-class filters. Rankings cover price, delivery, quality, service and overall, and they come from users, not from the size of a subscription.

The noticeboard is for jobs, tenders and information requests. Posting is free. The library holds the admin and project templates. The resources centre points at standards, safety regulators and associations. Classifieds carry an explicit safety acknowledgement.

This proposal keeps that brief and drops the 980-pixel frame, the GIF navigation and the daisy banner. The work is the search.
